The Holocaust Museum LA, located in Pan Pacific Park near The Grove and Original Farmers Market, is the oldest Holocaust museum founded by survivors in the United States, with origins dating back to 1961. Housed in a contemplatively designed building... read more opened in 2010, it guides visitors through immersive exhibits highlighting Jewish life before the Holocaust, the rise of Nazism, ghettos, concentration camps, and stories of resistance and rescue. Featured installations include a detailed Sobibor death camp model, a video Tree of Testimony displaying thousands of survivor testimonies, and a poignant Children’s Memorial marked by symbolic holes representing lost lives.

Visitors are encouraged to spend two to three hours exploring galleries filled with artifacts such as uniforms, personal items, photographs, documents, and a replica entrance gate bearing the inscription “Arbeit Macht Frei.” The museum emphasizes education and remembrance, offering guided tours, audio guides, survivor talks, and film screenings. Admission is free for California residents and students, with a standard fee on other days. Families and school groups are welcome, and the museum provides thoughtfully designed spaces for reflection and learning.
