The ride itself uses a unique system developed by Disney Imagineering and the Otis Elevator Company. Your elevator car, which seats 21 people, moves horizontally through the Fifth Dimension scene before locking into the vertical shaft for a series of thrilling drops. These drops are controlled to give you the sensation of falling faster than gravity, reaching speeds up to 39 miles per hour. This design ensures a mix of psychological thrills and physical sensations of weightlessness.
